Scout Outdoors

Rebranding for a local, couple-owned store from rural Illinois.

Problem

I was tasked with exploring options for a small mom & pop outdoors store in rural Illinois selling outdoor gear, camping gear, and items in that category.

Solution

Ultimately the budget cashed out with the pandemic, but the branding explored iconology from state parks around the area, and paired it with a rustic, hand done feel.

Logo

The logo is an arrow most notably from the (very historically wrong) story about Starved Rock which is close to the area. It drew inspiration from a directional device/symbol that can commonly be found on trails, as well.

Branding

The brand patterns and assets were made to have tactile and hand handled feel to them. It is an outdoor outfitter after all.

Goods

Aside from selling items from heavy hitters like Patagucci, North Vuitton, and other high-end outdoors brands — they wanted to see what their logo would look like on stickers and hats.
